My Story

My musical journey began at the age of nine, writing lyrics and melodies with my stepfather between his tour stops. At the same time, I was rigorously training to become a professional ballerina. However, at age 18, my dance career was abruptly cut short by a severe, irreversible injury to my lower left tibia sustained during a speed skating accident.

Pivotally, I shifted my focus to the visual arts, eventually graduating cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in art. Seeking to understand the commercial side of the industry, I took a business apprenticeship under a prominent celebrity photographer. This invaluable experience taught me the business of art and introduced me to legendary musicians and global artists.

My breakthrough arrived when a self-made, Forbes-listed magazine publisher took notice of my musical talent. During one of her photoshoots in Alabama, she secretly collaborated with a guitarist to orchestrate a surprise performance for an intimate crowd. Immediately following the performance, we drove to the historic Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, to record my very first demo, "Lullaby."

As the demo circulated, it caught the attention of producer Michael Sterling—the former musical director for Arista BMG artist Blu Cantrell and a former member of Inner Circle. Recognizing my songwriting potential, Sterling—who had already achieved chart-topping success with artists like Usher and Ludacris—brought me into his music company. Under his guidance, I released my debut single, "Kiss Me." The track explored a unique fusion of folk and soul, characterized by intelligent guitar melodies and soaring vocals. The release caught the attention of acclaimed musicians Randy Bernsen and David Shelley (former lead guitarist for Cher), both of whom played on my follow-up single, "Never Give Up."

As my catalog expanded, I received mentorship and songwriting insights from some of the industry's most respected figures, including Dave Mason, Fred Caruso (classical musician and producer of The Godfather), and actor-musician Jeremy Renner. This artistic momentum soon brought incredible opportunities: a request from Eddie Cornelius (of the Cornelius Brothers) to remake "Treat Her Like a Lady," remix offers from the former manager of The Clash, and co-writing invitations from Daryl White (son of Barry White). In 2012, while living in Hawaii, I further expanded my horizons by collaborating with Grammy winner Charles Brotman and musician Leroy Romans.

Then, life changed completely. Following a near-fatal illness, I met my husband. Through deep prayer, we were blessed with a miracle that doctors claimed was impossible: a beautiful baby girl. This miracle deepened my relationship with Jesus, giving me a profound new message to share. I vividly remember waking up to the music of Leanna Crawford and thinking, She is so close to Jesus. I wish I could find that space in my writing to communicate with Him so deeply. Weeping in the presence of His almighty love, I cried out to God to express my devotion through my art.

Days later, while putting my daughter to bed, the lyrics to "Shades of Yellow" suddenly filled my mind. I rushed to grab one of the many note pads scattered around my house, and the lyrics immediately flooded out of me. The music was unstoppable. I knew it was Jesus; He had heard my prayer, trusted me with this responsibility, and knew I was finally ready.

Over the next few weeks, the inspiration never ceased. I wrote two full albums—25 songs in total. While I am still actively writing, I feel more blessed than ever to finally share this music. I pray it heals, inspires, and encourages you just as deeply as it did me. God says, "Follow Me," and in return I say, "Forgive me." In my eyes, Jesus hung the moon; He is the reason I take a breath every day and the reason I am given the most amazing gift of all: motherhood.

The Yellow Rose Story

I was raised by two strong, independent parents: my grandparents, who sacrificed their lives to be there for me when no one else would. My grandfather, or “Papa” as I called him growing up Italian, passed when I was in my 20s. My grandmother at the time had a rose garden. Weighed down by the neglect of becoming a caretaker and the grief of her loss, the garden soon became overrun and hard to manage.

While rebuilding her strength to return to her beloved garden, a yellow rose eventually bloomed from the center of a weed-gathered dirt pile—independently, out of the ordinary. This encouraged her to get back to the garden. But still, it didn’t really blossom many roses. One day on her birthday, she, as clockwork, retreated to the garden for her morning chore; and lo and behold, it was bursting with yellow roses. A steady stream of them now starting to blossom, she would say in her signature, calm British voice: “Thank you, Tony.”

She would come into the kitchen to show me how he had spoken to her through this rose. It became a ritual of sorts for her to come inside with one rose after another and say to me, “Papa brought us another rose today,” and she would clip its stem and thoughtfully place it in a small crystal vase made for one.

My grandmother and I spent many loving moments singing together and reading my poetry that she would frame and put on the walls. When I was three, I wrote her a poem, and beside it was an ink reflection of my small hand. With scotch tape battered by time, she placed it on the kitchen cabinet door for so long it began to fade beneath the laminate she protected it in. When I was nearing thirteen, I wrote her and my Papa a poem about love and how it transcends and heals. She framed it in this beautiful brown frame, and every morning you would pass it as you left the bedrooms and made your way into the kitchen.

When she passed, my family took the house, and I was never able to retrieve these memories for my daughter, whom she will never meet in our human life. My grandmother believed in my gift as an artist and as a businesswoman.

I decided to open Yellow Rose because I don't just love singing music, I love the art of writing music also. I want Yellow Rose to be a place where artists can write with me and with each other. Music is a powerful way to heal, to connect with God, and to find joy. So, I dedicate this publishing company to God for His faith in me as a believer when He placed "Shades of Yellow" in my care. Also, to my Grandma, where my poems and memories will forever be remembered, and where we can share our blessings and God's word with the world. May you rest in peace with the angels Grandma, side by side with Papa, surrounded by Yellow Roses.
